## How to Use This Birding Checklist

Ready to head into the field? This tool helps you turn a messy list of birds into a beautiful, compact checklist in seconds. Here’s how to get the most out of it.

### 1. Importing Your List

Copy-paste from anywhere. Our smart cleaner handles the formatting for you.

You don't need to format anything yourself. Just copy a list from anywhere—eBird, a blog, or an email—and paste it into the **"Paste Text"** box. Running our "Smart Clean" tech, we automatically tidy up the mess.

#### Smart Parsing Capabilities

- **Messy Numbers:** "1. American Robin" or "12) Blue Jay" → Removed.
- **Weird Counts:** "Mallard 5x" or "Cardinal - 2" → Cleaned.
- **Scientific Names:** "(Turdus migratorius)" → Hidden automatically.

### 2. Custom Layouts

Optimize for density or readability depending on your trip.

Make the list work for _you_. The layout adjusts instantly so you can fit more birds or give yourself more room to write notes.

#### Density Modes

- Compact: Tightens spacing. Best for 100+ species.
- Comfortable: Standard field guide sizing.
- Spacious: Large text, ideal for kids or notes.

#### Style Options

- Checkboxes: Classic "tick" box.
- Lines: For writing counts (e.g. "5").

### 3. Printing Pro Tips

Perfect scaling for A4 and Letter paper sizes.

We've built a special "Print Mode" that hides the website buttons and navigation when you hit print. You'll get just the checklist, scaled perfectly for your paper.

#### Save Ink

Uncheck "Background Graphics" in your browser's print dialog. We force the checklist to be white anyway, so you don't waste black ink printing a background!

Supported Formats: A4, US Letter
